Happy Independence Day America!

Happy Fourth of July everyone! We are blessed and humbled by the sacrifice of our men and women in service! God bless them!  And thanks to our Heavenly Father who has blessed us with a free country to live in.

Those who deny freedom to others deserve it not for themselves. ~Abraham Lincoln

This picture was taken last Veteran's Day at the kids school chapel honoring all our veterans.  Emma and Cody got to read a special speech that they wrote together honoring their daddy.

Why We Admire Our Dad

Our Dad is Bill Spangenthal.  He is a Colonel in the United States Air Force.  There are many things that we love and admire about our Dad.
Our dad used to fly a C-17.  He would transport troops, patients, equipment, supplies, and fallen soldiers back to their families.  He did Humanitarian Air Drops that gave food and supplies to people in Afghanistan.  He was also a commander and took care of many families in his squadron.  Now our dad assists high ranking people who make important decisions for our country and troops.
My dad looks like an Army man when he comes home from work.  He sounds like a man that is willing to go into battle.  When our dad gets home from work, he always has a big smile on his face.  He always has time to play with us and he also helps our mom with chores.
When our dad is overseas for a trip, he tries to call us every day even if he has to stay up very late to talk to us.  He also tries to help me with homework even if he is on the other side of the world.  Sometimes he brings home little treats from his trips.  My favorite is German gummy bears.
Our dad is a strong Christian and loves God.  He reads devotions with us almost every night, helps us understand the Bible, and says nice things when he prays.
These are the reasons why we admire our Dad and we hope you do too.
